Become a Yoga Corrective Exercise Specialist in The FYT Method (FYT-YCES)
  •  for the yoga teacher who is interested in integrating corrective exercise in their teaching but does not desire to become a yoga therapist.
  • the first and only yoga educational certification program designed specifically to teach yoga instructors* assessment tools, knowledge of biomechanics and understanding of the mechanisms of yoga movement practices to provide the skills and knowledge necessary
  • help clients correct musculoskeletal imbalances so they can begin, return to or continue a program of regular exercise and movement without limitations.

*Although the course can be taken by any certified or licensed health professional or trainer, the yoga corrective exercise certification is only awarded to those who have at minimum 200 RYT status with the Yoga Alliance. This ensures competence and familiarity with the practice and teaching of yoga asana and pranayama.

The FYT Method is a comprehensive approach to improve ease of movement through structural alignment, sequential corrective yoga exercise and effective client communication. With assessment and yoga practice techniques that are easy to understand and implement, you’ll be well-equipped to help your clients achieve improved function and pain-free living.

• One client may have nagging pain from an old football injury.
• Another client may have a “bum knee” that they just can’t figure out.
• This client has chronic lower back pain.
• And your newest client is fresh out of rehabilitation after a rotator cuff repair surgery.

Teaching yoga to clients with movement issues, injuries, and chronic pain can be intimidating. But if they show up looking for help, it’s difficult to turn them away.

You don’t have to close the door on these students, as a FYT certified Yoga Corrective Exercise Specialist (YCES), you’ll know how to create safe and effective yoga programs for these clients and many others.

What Does a Yoga Corrective Exercise Specialist Do?

  • performs biomechanical assessments and provides yoga corrective exercise integration
  • works confidently with clients one on one
  • designs and teaches specialized small group yoga classes targeted to those with musculoskeletal pain.

You Will Learn To:

• Perform movement assessments and analyze the data.
• Identify movement dysfunctions.
• Develop corrective yoga movement strategies unique to each client to correct movement dysfunctions, reduce pain, and improve performance.
• Monitor performance, cue movement patterns, encourage, and motivate the client.

Earning the Yoga Corrective Exercise Specialist designation will significantly boost both the expertise and earning potential of any yoga teacher. How do I become a Yoga Corrective Exercise Specialist?

  1. Complete the five-module specialist program and homework OR
  2.  Pursue the same material in five separate courses. The second option is best for health and fitness professionals or yoga teachers who want an introduction to the material but are not yet ready to commit to the entire curriculum and would prefer to complete the course by paying per module—or simply want to better their knowledge in yoga corrective exercise without becoming a Specialist. If you choose the second option, I recommend completing the courses in numerical order to maximize your learning experience.

Upon successful completion of the Corrective Exercise Specialist Program or all five individual modular courses independently, you will obtain certificate status signifying your competency as a Yoga Corrective Exercise Specialist in The FYT Method. This credential does not expire. The purchase price of the Yoga Corrective Exercise Specialist Program includes all online materials and unlimited access to the course itself. The courses must be completed within 24 months of purchase to obtain certification. Paid access extensions are available if desired.

For the YCES certification, you are required to complete homework assignments and a couple of short quizzes.  The purpose of the homework assignments is to help you integrate the material and to receive direct feedback from Chrys regarding your application of the techniques which you have learned.
