Module 1: FYT BAMA and Yoga Asana Practice Screen (YAPS)
In this module you are introduced to the foundational FYT Method for safe yoga practice entitled: BAMA (Breath, Awareness, MoStility and Alignment. You also are instructed in the application of YAPS (Yoga Asana Practice Screen) a 5-15 minute screening tool to assess the yoga student’s capacities to participate in a yoga practice.

You will learn:
• How to incorporate the principles of BAMA into the yoga practice to keep your student safe and efficient in addressing movement and movement impairments.
• To quickly assess general core stability and flexibility of a prospective yoga student
• To provide the yoga student with recommendations for modifications to their asanas with the use of appropriate props or pose variations to accommodate any musculoskeletal limitations.
• To provide recommendations for specific asanas to address any limitations in flexibility or core strength
• To give the student a “take home” chart of recommendations so they can incorporate them easily into a home practice or practice in another setting

 

Module 2 FYT MoStility: Mobility and Stability (MoStility) to attain healthy movement patterns

Learn the assessments for Mobility and Stability which allow you to select corrective movements utilizing integration with yoga asana and pranayama for improved ease of movement in your clients.

• Learn effective and efficient dynamic movement assessment strategies
• Identify yoga corrective exercise options from your dynamic assessment
• Develop skills in creating an integrative yoga corrective exercise practice for your client
• Learn the foundations and applications of kinesiology taping to address MoStility in your client.

 

Module 3: The BioPsychoSocial Model and the Science of Pain Care

• Identify the components of the BioPsychoSocial Model
• List the ways utilize the tools and philosophy of yoga to integrate the BPS model into your programming
• Define current pain science theory and its applications in the yoga practice to improve ease of movement

 

Module 4: Stretching: The Latest Theories on Applications of Stretching and MyoFascial Release and How Yoga can deliver more than Flexibility to your Clients!

You will learn:

• The latest theories on stretching and what it actually is
• Descriptions and Applications of 6 Major types of Stretching
• How to identify Hypermobility Syndrome and what precautions apply
• Current theories on the fascial system and applications to a yoga practice
• Self Myofascial Manipulation Techniques to incorporate in a yoga practice

 

Module 5: Putting it All Together: How to maximize your Skills as a YCES to provide service to others and revenue for yourself

You will learn:

• How to design and implement a small group yoga class to address specific musculoskeletal disorders
• How to communicate with referral sources to build a client base
• Marketing strategies within your community to build awareness of your services
